Gardening – Vegetable Style

I have very fond memories of picking and snapping green beans out of my parents garden growing up. Shucking corn, watching the watermelon grow and thumping the green melons to judge ripeness were all part of warm summers in Southern Ohio. Now that I live in a suburb, I miss those quiet, summer, country days. Bringing a little country to my little corner of grown-up world, my husband and I are trying our hand at growing a vegetable garden this year.

Three types of tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, onions, 3 types of peppers and broccoli (my personal favorite) make up our green space.

We also planted basil, parsley, cilantro and oregano in a couple of pots. I’m very excited to start harvesting!
